Description

Oberwesel is located in the middle of the romantic world cultural heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Medieval Oberwesel stands for the origin of Riesling culture on the Rhine and still lives it today. Winemaking has been a tradition in the Lanius family for over 250 years. We produce racy and elegant Rieslings, fruity and mineral with high aging potential.

Vintage description 1991

From the viticultural point of view a very difficult year. It began with severe late frosts and all vineyards froze in bud. Even at the beginning of June the vineyards of the Middle Rhine, Mosel, Rheingau and Rheinhessen not to bee seen a single green place. Quite the opposite of Pfalz and Baden. There the vineyards were already in bloom. Then the growth began but the expectations that grapes could still be harvested were close to zero. But one should not underestimate nature: There were grapes after all! The yield was normal, but only the estate wine quality was achieved. That this says little about the quality in the glass, proves this 1991 estate wine Riesling feinherb.
