Description

This sweet Riesling from the location Oberweseler In der Rheinhell enchants with its flavor variety. The scent of wild strawberries is followed by several exotic fruit notes. The wine reminds mellow kiwi and caramelized fruits. Sniffing more detailed and with rising temperature you can find distinctly notes of coconut. The exotic flavors are rounded by a harmonious touch of honey. The taste of this Riesling is intense and concentrated. The lively acidity structure will provide a long freshness to this wine, but it is absolutely perfect to enjoy just now!

The Riesling Oberweseler In der Rheinhell is an outstanding rarity descending from our oldest vineyard with more than 70-years-old ungrafted vines. The sweet wine from selected grapes charms with complex flavors and a delicate elegance. The juvenile wine has a subtle minerality and a gripping dense aroma. The well-balanced acidity structure gives the wine a long storability.

Erste Lage is the designation for prime vineyards with outstanding character which provide optimal growing conditions and have been proven to produce consistently high-quality wines over a long period of time. The small location In der Rheinhell is situated in the famous Oberweseler Oelsberg. On this very steep vineyard the vines grow immediately on the Rhine. The soil is marked by the intermingling of slate, loess clay and variegated sandstone. Together with the ideal maturing conditions this brings a prominent uniqueness to the wine.

The old vines were planted 1948, the birth year of the previous owner Waldemar Querbach. Jörg Lanius took over this location in 2016 and refund the old name to it, which was lost with the German Wine Act of 1971. The ungrafted Riesling vines are a rarity because these vines would have been picked out during the land consolidation usually. That means that In der Rheinhell hosts some of the oldest vines of the Middle Rhine. Only 2.000 vines are growing in this location. In the small quantity of grapes growing at the old vines the flavors are highly concentrated.

The accentuated bouquet of the Auslese from the Oberweseler In der Rheinhell speaks for itself. It is up to you whether you dedicate yourself to this specialty in full awareness or enjoy it with a dessert. It suits perfectly fruity sweets. It is also a highlight in combination with various strong cheese, especially blue cheese.
