Description
The semi-dry Engehöller Bernstein fulfills every aspiration. It is as fruity as piquant, briskly minerally with a well-integrated acidity. The scent reminds elderflower, followed by an aroma of nectarine and orange. A wine with great elegance and a long finish.
Erste Lage is the designation for prime vineyards with outstanding character which provide optimal growing conditions and have been proven to produce consistently high-quality wines over a long period of time. The wines are of at least Spaetlese quality. The vines root quite deep in these vineyards. The soil of the Engehöller Bernstein is dominated by brown and grey slate and provides the minerality in this Riesling. The adept recognizes that by the elegance and the typical peach flavor of the wine.
Opposite the Schoenburg castle in a side valley of the Rhine the vineyard is facing south-east and the grapes are allowed to soak up the sun. The result is a Riesling, harvested slightly later in a riper condition. That develops the ripe flavors, which make the wine so harmonious.
The fruity-spicy flavor and the integrated acidity make this wine a perfect food companion. The powerful minerality is the final touch to it. We recommend to enjoy this wine with savory dishes. That could be some pasta in a cream sauce with fresh herbs and cheese as well as fish or sea food. It suits also meat, for example veal. A variously adaptable wine to a set menu or accompanying fine dining!
