Description

Oberwesel is situated in the center of the romantic world heritage site upper middle rhine valley. The mediveal Oberwesel stands for the origin of Riesling culture on the rhine and is still vividly portraying it to date. In our estate, we craft powerful yet elegant Rieslings – fruity, mineral, and with high aging potential. Wines from a single vineyard show unique character and come from classified vineyards with ideal growing conditions. Grand cru wines originate from our best vineyards, with ideal growing conditions for Riesling. This wine is from the Oberweseler Oelsberg. On the steep slopes with up to 80% incline, the vines are growing right in front of the Rhine river. The soil is marked by its unique mixture of slate, loess, and sandstone. With a microclimate predestined to grow Riesling, outstanding wines with a high expression of their origin are crafted. Riesling from the Oelsberg is marked by a powerful scent and lavish character. Its texture is creamier and more opulent rather than mineral, with exotic fruit flavors and spiced notes.

The vintage 2004:

After the extremely hot year of 2003, the weather was somewhat cooler again, but very good overall. The summer was warm and dry, but without heat waves.
Autumn was mild and brought a long ripening phase, so that aromas and acidity are very balanced. The wines are elegant and fresh.
